Muschi Alti Le Cornete

Muschi Alti is one of those small Tuscany stories. In 1997, the Ottonelli family took over an estate in the Maremma/Montecucco area, and already the following year—at the same time Montecucco DOC was established—brothers Silvestro and Alberto Ottonelli began planting new vineyards and shaping their own style.

Le Cornete is their uncompromising Cabernet project: a Toscana IGT Cabernet Sauvignon focused on ripe fruit, freshness, and structure—without ever feeling heavy.

The grapes are harvested into small picking crates (September/October) and vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel to keep the fruit and aromatics tight and pure. Then comes the “Affinato” part: the wine spends 18 months in French Allier oak, using both barriques and tonneaux, delivering that classic Super Tuscan signature of polished tannins, depth, and spice.

In the glass it shows a deep ruby color with violet hues, with Muschi Alti’s signature notes of cocoa, cinnamon, and licorice layered over dark fruit and an elegant, subtle floral edge.

A full, rounded mouthfeel, great balance, and a long, persistent finish—exactly the kind of Cabernet that can impress and still be simply delicious to drink.

Serving: 17–18°C (ideally 30–60 minutes in a decanter)

Food pairing: braised/roast beef, lamb, game, duck—and yes, it’s fantastic with BBQ and truffle dishes.
