Sutherland Chardonnay
Sutherland Chardonnay is the Elgin project’s answer to cool, maritime Chardonnay – more citrus driven and linear than its Stellenbosch big brother. The nose offers lemon, green apple, a touch of peach and discreet oak, while the palate is clean and precise with crisp acidity, a gently creamy texture and a long, slightly salty finish. The wine is partly fermented in barrel and partly in tank, with some time on lees to add extra complexity without losing freshness. A highly versatile white that works both as an aperitif and with anything from the sea. Spot on with oysters, prawns, fish, sushi and light pasta or risotto dishes.
